Executive Consultant in Nutrition, Wellness, and Healthcare
Former Director at the nation’s largest Health & Wellness company
Hi, I’m Bob Hilke
I’m the founder and editor of VeryHealthyBody.com. I hold a degree in Nutritional Sciences from Iowa State University and bring more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including healthcare consulting and employee-benefits strategy.
My interest in nutrition and wellness is grounded in the belief that practical lifestyle habits—such as food choices, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and preventive care—can play an important role in supporting long-term health. I created VeryHealthyBody.com to make credible health and wellness information easier for everyday readers to understand and discuss with their healthcare professionals.
I am not a physician and do not provide individual medical diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice. The information shared on this website is intended to encourage learning and better-informed conversations with qualified healthcare professionals.
Many people experience a healthcare system that understandably concentrates on diagnosing and treating illness after it develops, including the use of medication when appropriate. Nutrition, lifestyle, prevention, and medical care all have valuable roles in supporting health. I believe there should be more collaboration between nutrition and medicine.
Nutrition places particular emphasis on food patterns and nourishment that can support health and well-being. Along with physical activity, sleep, stress management, and appropriate medical care, nutrition and lifestyle changes can be important parts of prevention and care when appropriate for the individual.
People should be active participants in their health decisions and discuss options with qualified healthcare professionals. Nutrition and lifestyle habits can be meaningful parts of supporting long-term health, although the best approach varies by individual and health situation.
The mission of VeryHealthyBody.com is to provide science-based nutrition and wellness information that helps visitors learn practical, nutrition- and lifestyle-focused health strategies and prepare for meaningful discussions with healthcare professionals. The goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to help readers understand ways to support their baseline health and long-term well-being.
To provide helpful resources, I curate research and presentations from qualified clinicians, researchers, registered dietitians, scientists, professors, and other relevant subject-matter experts. I also share some of my own experiences and insights from time to time. My academic training in Nutritional Sciences and more than 35 years in the healthcare industry—including a long career with a major health and wellness company—give me experience and perspective to contribute to the health and wellness conversation.
Every person is different, and nutrition and other health approaches that work well for one person may not produce the same results for another. Health today reflects many factors, including lifelong habits, circumstances, and individual needs. Some changes may feel immediate, while other health goals take time and continued effort. Focus, diligence, persistence, and patience can be valuable partners on your journey toward better health.
Nutrition is an important foundation of long-term health.
